Welding of defects and filling holes in thin sections of cast iron. (this is commonly done on production lines where castings are imperfect but can be salvaged by welding.) All-State No.8 is also used in repairing cracks,breaks and missing sections of thin walled castings.

Procedure

• Preheating is seldom necessary but warming to 400°F.(204°C.) will produce a softer and more machinable deposit. When foreign material such as sand and slag are found in the area to be welded,remove with All-State Chamfer Rod,grinding,or chipping until good solid base metal is reached. Use stringer beads or narrow weave beads. Peening after each pass will help to relieve stresses.
