All-State 4-60T is a superior machinable wire which gives maximum strength and ductility on heavy sections of cast iron. Due to its iron content, it is excellent for welding ferrous metals which are high in phosphorus content and ductile iron. It can also be used to join these cast irons to steels. Recommended for general maintenance welding where high strength and ductility are required and yet, deposits must be machinable. Commonly used on heavy machine bases, equipment parts, cylinder heads and blocks, worn pump housings and impellers, steel to cast iron "fish plates".
Procedure
Grind all surfaces to be welded. Remove all foreign matter such as loose dirt and grease. Straight polarity direct current (electrode negative) with Argon gas to TIG is suggested.
Properties:
| Typical Mechanical Properties | |
| Tensile Strength | up to 80 ksi |
| Yield Strength | up to 60 ksi |
| Hardness | to Brinell |
| Machinability | Good, but slower speeds and shallower cuts than made with mild steel are necessary |
