All-State 4130-T deposits have high tensile strength, and good elongation. The deposits can be flame hardened. In the annealed state, All-State 4130-T is machinable.
Procedure
Remove all foreign matter. Base metal should be clean and dry. Thoriated Tungsten electrode used with direct current, straight polarity (electrode -) and welding grade Argon gas should be used. Amperage is determined by electrode diameter, base metal thickness, and inert gas selected. Preheat and postheat will be dictated by base metal chemistry, type of weld and size of weld deposit. A 400°F (204°C) to 600°F (316°C) interpass temperature is suggested for SAE 4130 base metal.
